Even with the last minute booking Sue was really flexible and able to give me as much time in the cottage, including a slightly later check out following a late night stargazing. The cottage is ideally located off the main roads taking you through the Brecon Beacons and considering this was not noisy at all. We enjoyed our stay and found the property comfortable and well equipped. The converted barn has lots of character, with quirky décor, good lighting, comfortable beds, clean linen, fast broadband and an excellent shower. Safety was well considered, with fire blankets, emergency lighting and a carbon monoxide detector provided. The whistling kettle was a lovely touch. A few areas could improve. The supplied coffee and tea were appreciated, although sealed new containers, would be better.The exterior looked a little tired, with paintwork, lawn, patio and garden furniture needing attention. The property is very close to the A40, so road noise was noticeable, especially with windows open. Thin bedroom curtains also meant headlights came through at night; blackout curtains would help.There was a slight musty smell on arrival which soon cleared. The oven/grill pan needed cleaning, and a few minor maintenance items were noted. Overall, a characterful and comfortable stay with many positives.

We had a very comfy stay in this lovely little cottage. Parking was easy as was check in and, even though this place is on a major road there is very little road noise inside. The kitchen is very well equipped with good supplies of crockery and cutlery/utensils. There is a nespresso coffee machine with pods and the dishwasher also has pods supplied. The fridge also had a good size freezer, something not seen often in Airbnb. Tea, coffee and Welsh cakes were also provided. Another great touch was a carton of long life milk, a very welcome find if you arrive without any milk. There are no shops nearby but Aldi in Brecon a few miles down the road.There is all you need to get a lovely fire going in the woodburner and the blankets on the sofa (very comfy) were also a good addition.There was outdoor seating to enjoy watching the pair of red kites that seem to be residents too.All in all, a very thoughtfully appointed accommodation. We will return.

Lovely cottage at an ideal location We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Arch Cottage. The cottage is well equipped and full of character. It is ideally located for events in Brecon as well as outdoor activities in the Brecon Beacons – we walked up Pen y Fan and did the Four waterfalls trail. Sue was a lovely host, making sure we find our way to the cottage and have everything we need.

The location is a short drive from the town centre and from the national park and offers a spacious place to relax and enjoy the beautiful Welsh countryside.
